雖然本屆坎城影展入選多部女角導向作品，力挽過去常被批評重男輕女的詬病，但近日坎城頻傳女嘉賓因沒有穿著高跟鞋，因而被拒絕通過紅毯，甚至是被請出戲院的風波，遭到諸多名人大罵八股歧視，但坎城藝術總監佛赫莫嚴正否認說：「坎城要求女性穿著高跟鞋的謠言是空穴來風。」
據悉，在《卡蘿》17日晚的首映會上，有位女性因穿踝靴而被請回，另名女性則腳蹬厚底涼鞋，當場被保全粗暴推走，多位年長或有醫療原因只能穿著平底鞋的來賓，也都因此不得其門而入。
就連男性也無法倖免，一位男記者在開幕片《昂首》首映會穿著亮片樂福鞋出席，卻被判定因沒有鞋帶也非黑色，不合正式服裝規定，當場被拒絕入座。佛赫莫表示，坎城的著裝規定多年來從未改變，只有「禁止吸菸，服裝正式」，對鞋子毫無規定，但目擊者指證歷歷，整起事件被封為「平底門」。
